Family Study of Skin Cancers in Arizona

For people in skin-cancer-prone families

Purpose:

The purpose of the this study is to gather information from skin cancer cases
(people with melanoma and/or nonmelanoma skin cancers) and their family members to learn about the inherited and lifestyle risk factors of skin cancer.

What will researchers do?

Ask you to answer questions about your family cancer history,
lifestyle practices, and environmental exposures.
Find out more about your thoughts and feelings regarding skin cancer
occurrence or recurrence.
Ask about your participation in skin cancer prevention, screening, and
early detection activities.
Find our more about communications of skin cancer risk and risk reduction
among your family members and from healthcare providers.
Ask you to get permission from other family members for us to
contact them about the study.
Obtain a blood sample from you.

Why should I participate?

You may be eligible to participate if you personally have had a skin cancer or have a family member who was diagnosed with a skin cancer, like melanoma.
