At the Arizona Cancer Center, preventing cancer is as important as treating it. The Center’s Cancer Prevention and Control Program is one of the largest and most diverse in the country.

  • Human papillomavirus (HPV) 


  • Ovarian Cancer
    • A Phase II Randomized Study of the Effect of Zoledronic Acid Versus Observation on Bone Mineral Density of the Lumbar Spine in Women Who Elect to Undergo Risk-Reducing Surgery that Results in Removal of Both Ovaries.     • Pilot study of the identification of cognitive dysfunction in ovarian cancer patients.  This study examines the effect of ovarian cancer and its treatment on the brain and its function. Please call Lisa Hess at (520) 626-1387 for information about this study.

  • Prostate Cancer
    • Negative Biopsy Trial (NBT): for men at high risk of Prostate Cancer because of a persistent elevation in PSA above 4 ng/ml and had a negative biopsy. Contact (520) 321-7798 in Tucson , or (800) 243-6519
    • Watchful Waiting Trial (WW): for men diagnosed with Prostate Cancer and under 'Watchful Waiting' of a physician for their disease.

    Skin Cancer
    • Family Study of Skin Cancers in Arizona. This study gathers information from skin cancer cases (people with melanoma and nonmelanoma skin cancers) and their family members to learn about the inherited and lifestyle risk factors of skin cancer.

    Genetic Counseling Services

    For individuals and families with strong hereditary risk factors for cancer
    who desire genetic counseling.

A reliable source for diet and nutrition information for patients with cancer, their families, friends, and anyone interested in learning more about the diet-cancer link.
