About TACMASS
TACMASS (Tissue Acquisition and Cellular/Molecular Analysis Shared Service) provides support to both the Arizona Cancer Center (AZCC) and The University of Arizona (UA) research investigators, on a fee-for-service basis. TACMASS strives to maximize research dollars through customized, cost-effective, and quality-controlled services.
The Service's Director, Dr. Ray Nagle,
is a board certified pathologist with over 40 years experience in anatomic pathology, immunohistochemistry, and tumor bank management. His research program focuses on invasion and metastasis factors related to prostate carcinoma. The Lab Manager, Kathy McDaniel, and the TACMASS Staff work closely with each investigator to optimize experimental conditions for each project. Together, the TACMASS Team offers many years of combined expertise using a variety of tissue and molecular analysis techniques.
Services Provided
TACMASS offers services for routine histology using both frozen and formalin fixed, paraffin embedded (FFPE) human and research animal tissues and cell lines. Immunohistochemistry (IHC) and in situ hybridization are performed on an automated platform (Ventana Discovery XT). Additional techniques offered include laser capture microdissection (LCM), building Tissue MicroArrays (TMAs), confocal microscopy, and digital imaging. TACMASS also provides for the collection, preservation, and management of tissues and body fluids through the AZCC Biospecimen Repository. Request for use of banked biospecimens can be routed through TACMASS.
