FGSS provides large and small scale fucntional genomics approaches to problems in cancer biology, including identification of gene-drug interactions.

The mission of the Functional Genomics Shared Service is to provide researchers the opportunity to utilize functional genomics approaches in invertebrate model genetic systems to address questions of interest.  Services include RNAi screening in animal cells, including combined genetic and therapeutic manipulations.  FGSS provides space and facilities for genetic experiments using Drosophila, including the production of transgenic animals.  In addition to physical assistance, we provide conceptual  help in designing approaches and specific experiments using invertebrate model organisms.

The Functional Genomics Shared Service (FGSS) offers two types of experimental paradigms:

The FGSS currently specializes in studies using Drosophila melanogaster (fruit flies). However, we can also provide assistance for those wishing to pursue functional genomics approaches in other genetic model systems, such as whole genome RNAi screening in the nematode, C. elegans. Inquire for other possible systems.

The Functional Genomics Team looks forward to working with you!
