The Flow Cytometry Shared Service (FCSS) at the Arizona Cancer Center (AZCC) is highly utilized and supports the research needs of all AZCC Cancer Center members in several respects. These include: providing state-of-the-art data acquisition, analysis, and cell sorting services; accommodating timed experiments by providing flexible hours;  and assisting in the development of methods and protocols. Under the Direction of Katrina Trevor, Ph.D., the AZCC FCSS functions as a collaborative facility, working in conjunction with the Cytometry Core Facility (CCF) of the Arizona Research Laboratories, Division of Biotechnology. Getting Started with the FCSS/CCF

About FCSS

  • Normal AZCC facility hours are 9:00 a.m. - 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday
  • Instrument use is nearly constant during, and often after, facility hours
  • Through consultation with many investigators, new assays and techniques are developed and optimized
  • New assays and techniques are made available to all AZCC members
  • As a result of processing many different samples from many different investigators, the Service is able too bring together investigators interested in the same or similar techniques
  • The Flow Cytometry Specialists:
      • Perform quality control measures daily to ensure that the FACScan and FACSAria instruments are properly calibrated
      • Play a critical role in helping the facility run smoothly by
        • Solving scheduling problems
        • Performing minor equipment maintenance
        • Billing investigators
        • Helping users analyze data
