Past, Present, & FutureIn the past, the Bioinformatics Shared Service role primarily involved conventional studies in cancer biology. Presently, we continue with conventional studies, while reaching for new ideas and approaches; particularly in the use of genome data. Our future lies in using bioinformatics to interpret volumes of genome data and to integrate the results with biological and medical knowledge. The Bioinformatics Shared Service (BISS) will continue to aid Investigators at the Arizona Cancer Center, University of Arizona, and some few external Investigators with a variety of highly technical services.

The Arizona Cancer Center, the state’s premier National Cancer Institute-designated comprehensive cancer center, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year. With primary locations at the University of Arizona in Tucson and the Virginia G. Piper Cancer Center in Scottsdale, the Center has more than a dozen research and education offices distributed throughout the state and 250 physician and scientist members working to prevent and cure cancer. |
