Cancer Biology is the comparative study of the biology of normal and cancerous cells and tissues. The discipline includes the study of normal and tumor cell biology and biochemistry, cancer etiology, and biological rationale for cancer therapy and prevention.

The purpose of this degree program is to provide formal graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree in Cancer Biology. The curriculum introduces students to knowledge derived from experiments on the production, properties and therapy of cancer, and assures that students have the necessary background in one or more areas of related fundamental science to enable them to do original research.
